How would it feel if you actually went after the things you love? If you started to live your life from your heart? If you were to put all your fears aside – what would you do? The fear of loss is the main reason we don’t take chances. How strange it may sound, we more often than not choose to stay with our suffering, because out of fear of the unknown we prefer to stay with a suffering that is familiar. This fear of the unknown is why we don’t go after everything that comes our way. Why we are too afraid to make it work. Why we are too afraid to even try. The truth is that more often than not we’re actually causing our own depression. But maybe if we weren’t so afraid of uncertainty and rejection, we could find the courage to open our heart and take a chance on life. Because even though rejection and loss may hurt, and even though growth and change may be both scary and painful, nothing is as painful as being stuck somewhere you don’t belong, and if you don’t make room for renewal, reconnection and love, life will become a chore – dry and flavorless. We must remember that people and chances are coming and going in our lives for a reason. We must trust that the people that choose to stick around are the ones that should be fought for, and learn to gracefully let go of the ones that don’t. I do not think anyone will ever feel truly ready taking this leap of faith, but if you find that something that makes you feel alive again – or if you’re lucky enough to find that someone who won’t let life escape you, that someone who betters you and inspires you in life and in love – it’s kind of worth the risk. Take the chance. You hold on to a love like that. Because even though our minds may trick us all, we’re damn fools if we think our hearts ever will.
