The story that the moon tells is of birth, growth, fullness, decay, disappearance, with rebirth and growth again.

Happy New Year, lovelies! The Sun is in earthy and stable Capricorn and opposing the ambitious Capricorn sun, we have 2018’s first Full Moon in domestic and loving Cancer.
And what a great way to start the year! Today’s Full Moon brings the perfect opportunity to once again let go of all your old stuff and your old self, so you can begin the new year with a new you!
Masculine Capricorn and feminine, nurturing Cancer in many ways represents the Yin & the Yang. The archetypal father and mother figure. The Capricorn sun is strong, solid and disciplined. The Cancer Moon is soft, fluid and adaptable. And with the Moon in a sensitive water sign such as Cancer, this years first Full Moon can be emotional for many, bringing old wounds, fears and vulnerabilities to the surface. In combination with love goddess Venus opposing this rather emotional Cancer Moon, home, family and love relationships are brought to the spotlight. These opposing forces will for many feel like a time of inner struggle, with feelings such as sadness, confusion, anger, fear, guilt and shame, all pushing their way to the surface, forcing a New Year’s transformation whether you like it or not.
The end of the year is always a time of death and rebirth, and as we step away from 2017 and wake to the first day of 2018 we are called to embrace our inner power, and let ourselves surrender and release everything and everything we have outgrown. Don’t beat yourself up if you’re feeling overly emotional around this time; it is simply the energies surrounding this Full Moon that heighten your sensitivity, aiding you in the process of letting go of that which no longer serves you. In order to create a revolution, darkness has to rise to the surface and pain and sadness has to be released to be healed. And remember this: that when you’re close to have a breakdown – when it feels like everything is lost and you’re floating around in your groundlessness with nothing to hold on to – that all breakdowns are really breakthroughs, and what we all need to be able to expand, grow and evolve our heart and soul.
Write down everything that comes up for you around this time and create a releasing fire ceremony. It doesn’t have to be big. A candle and a small bowl to burn what you have written down will do. But Fire ceremonies, even small ones, holds tremendous power. Ceremonies are the language of the soul, and the fire is purifying, helping you to step into the new year with a clean slate and a pure heart.
Then take some time to sit in silence and just breathe, connecting with your inner guide. Remind yourself that when everything seems to be falling apart, it’s often falling into place, and that when things are lost in your life, it is simply to make space for better things to enter. Be gentle with yourself through the process, and give yourself time to rest and restore, gently reminding yourself that this is a transition phase. Whatever emotions floats to the surface, your heart already holds the wisdom you need to guide you safely to the shore. Trust that.
This is the first day of the New year. And the first day of the rest of your life. Be patient. Remember that you are never meant to see the whole path; just to trust the next step. Let your intention this year be to fearlessly walk the path of your heart, knowing that if you are brave enough to surrender and let go of the need for control, the Universe will reward you with synchronicities and magic. What is meant for you will always, always find you.
Sending you much love and light for the Full Moon and the New Year!
