Happy new moon in the sign of Aquarius! And happy Chinese New Year!!

I love new moons. And I love New Years. There is something utterly magical about them. The energy of endings and new beginnings. The opportunity to close a chapter, turn the page, and have a brand-new blank page waiting for you to create whatever your soul longs for ♡.

Every year the Aquarius new moon launches the Chinese New Year (The date is officially February 12th in China as they are about 7 hours head of the time zone here in Oslo), and this year it will be a much-welcomed breath of fresh air to step out of the fast and hard energy of the metal rat and into the more grounded and loyal energy of the metal Ox. Take a moment to welcome this new year by taking a couple of long deep breaths and feel the peace that arises when you allow yourself to just be. It is going to be ok.

Stepping into the new year, the Universe finally brings the cosmic shift that will calm our emotions and help us to settle down. The Ox is a powerful animal who has the ability to transform the negative challenges of 2020’s Rat year into positive results in 2021. The Ox is grounded, loyal, gentle, and trustworthy. He is a diligent and steady builder, reconstructing what is broken as he goes – and I think we can all agree that never has the world been in the need of an urgent reconstruction more than now.

But there is more to this new moon than the Chinese New Year. As both sun and moon reside in the same sign at the time of a new moon, the energy of the sign the luminaries conjunct is always very potent at the time of the new moon, and this time even more so! Not only do we have the sun and moon dancing together in Aquarius as we speak, but Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, and Venus have all joined the party too. With no less than six bodies all in one sign, the Aquarius energy is strong!  

Idealistic Aquarius is the humanitarian of the zodiac, and this altruistic air sign usually spends her time thinking big and making plans for the greater good. As such it is a good time to ask yourself what you can do or where you can contribute that would benefit for the greatest good of all? Where can you be of service to the world? What is your calling?

Do not be afraid to let the darkness of the new moon draw you into your inner world. Only if we are aware of our shadow can we bring forth the gifts that are hidden there. Just as it is darkest before the dawn, facing our shadow brings out our greatest potential. If you are wise enough to get out of your own way, it will all fall into place at the right time. It always does.

If you do not feel like saving the world right now, though, that is perfectly fine. Even if Aquarius is extremely concerned with worldly issues, this rebellious air sign is also all about individuality, so if you do not have any humanitarian seeds to plant at the moment, use the energy of this new moon to plant some new routines, taking care of yourself instead, trusting that all changes in the world starts with you, and as you take time to heal, grow, rise above and choose love, the world does too ♡

A new moon in visionary Aquarius – especially in combination with the new year! –  is also the perfect time to bring out your mood board and get your ideas rolling. The Aquarian energy asks us to and open ourselves up to world of possibilities. Like the Mad Hatter, the water bearer is one to embrace the out-of-the-box ideas, so do not let the fear of being rejected or being different stop you from following the ideas that feels right for you. Often, it is just a minor change in perspective that is needed to create a major positive shift in your life, so start with your thoughts and the way you think about things, and everything will follow after.

However, if you choose to only focus on one thing under this new moon, let it be to get really clear on what you want to bring into your life. If you are messy and unclear, “messy and unclear” is what you will get. No exception. This is such a potent time to plant new soul seeds, so do not let this opportunity slip you by.

Then without too much thinking – we do not want the infamous Ego to get in the way – spend 5 minutes writing the 5 first seeds that comes to mind. Do not mind how crazy or unreachable it may sound. Sit with it in stillness for a moment, before you make a vow to get out of your own way, surrender and let it go, trusting the cosmos to do her manifesting magic.
